Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Dalizi, southwest of Yanjiagou, Lujiatun town, Jiutai County, Jilin. It was named by the Jilin District Geological Survey Group in 1980. And it was firstly used for publication by Zhang Wu and Dong Guoyi in 1983.


Lithology and Thickness

From bottom to top, it is divided into 3 members: (1) Yingbei Mountain conglomerate Member, which is blue-gray conglomerate sandstone; (2) Houdoushan variegated rock Member, mainly variegated sandstone and siltstone; (3) Lujiatun black rock Member, mainly gray, gray-black fine sandstone, siltstone and mudstone. Not reach to the top. Its thickness is 4577 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It has a disconformable contact with the underlying Upper Permian volcanics of the Madatun Fm.

Upper contact

Regional extent

It is strictly distributed in Jiutai County, Jilin.

Bivalves: Palaeonodonta costor, P. opinata, P. obrutschevi, P. pseudolongissima, Microdontella. And plant fossils and conchostracan fossils.
